UX Trainee Recruitment FAQ

The focus of the exam is to evaluate the applicant’s design aptitude, and ability to apply knowledge learned up to 12th standard (Intermediate).

Presence of mind, attitude and ability to apply knowledge will be important for success in the exam.

The application fees is Rs. 300/- payable by DD.

That said, this is a company sponsored training.  Tuition fees for the selected students will be paid by MakutaUX -- with the understanding that students will join the company after successfully completing the training .

On any average day, students will have two sessions (Morning and Afternoon). Each session will consist of 1 hour of theory, and 3 hours of practical work. During the course of 6 months, students will be expected to complete 10+ projects — including 1 live project.

The syllabus will cover the following topics:

Design Thinking, Visual Thinking, User Research, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Information Architecture, Design Commuinication and Documentation, Design process and Software Lifecycles, Working with Remote Teams and Communication Skills.

Bachelors degree in  Design / Architecture / Fine Arts / Science / Engineering / Business. Minimum aggregate 60% in most recent degree. Students should have graduated by July 2014.

Exceptional Candidates without minimum qualifications may also apply.

To qualify, you will need to demonstrate that you have strong visual (originality, colors, typography, artistic, layouts, aesthetic) skills, OR strong software programming skills, OR a history of innovation (new ideas, projects, business plans, etc).

You will be asked to upload samples of your portfolio (scanned artwork, sketches, presentations, URL's of sites, source code,  etc) so we can better understand your skill sets. Please ensure that the maximum size of the file is no more than 5 MB, and that it is in pdf format. If you dont have software to convert, we recommend cute PDF -- its free and works.

Simple answer: No. You do not need to be good at drawing to qualify.

That said, at least 25% of the seats are reserved for candidates who have good drawing / sketching skills, and have a sense of colors, shapes and design aesthetic. The candidates will also also be expected to have a working knowledge of tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator etc.

A good User Experience team consists of members from different backgrounds. If you are interested in Visual Design -- then it is important that you are good at drawing. If on the other hand, you are interested in research then it is more important that you have strong analytical and communication skills. Similarly prototypers would need strong programming skills.

Selection is based on the performance of the candidate in the recruitment exam which is followed by an interview for those candidates who successfully cleared the entrance exam conducted by VEDA IIT. 

Yes. You may apply if you graduated in the years before 2014.  However, we would like to point out that you will not be given any special treatment, and will start like everyone -- as an entry level professional.

Short Answer: Not at this time.

This training is only open to students willing to relocate to Hyderabad. Additionally, on successful completion, students are expected to join the company that sponsored their training (in Hyderabad).

At this point, Veda IIT do not offer training in VFX. If you are interested in VFX, we encourage you to apply directly to Makuta VFX.

Hostel accommodation is not available.
Students have to make their own arrangements in nearby places.
Information can be obtained from the senior students.

VEDA IIT,  is an autonomous, non-profit institute, recognized for providing Industry orientied training since 1997. VEDA IIT has the distinction of conducting, a first of its kind and totally Industry Driven, 2-year MS Program in VLSI Engineering in collaboration with JNTU. Students have achieved 100% employment on the day of completion of the program in all batches conducted so far.

VEDA IIT in partnership with MakutaUX is now offering the User Experience Trainee program. Students will be selected and trained by VEDA IIT, and on successful completion, will be absorbed by MakutaUX.
