Test Pattern

Overview:

The focus of the exam is to evaluate the applicant’s design aptitude, and ability to apply knowledge learned up to 12th standard (Inter).

Presence of mind, attitude and ability to apply knowledge will be important for success in the exam.

The written exam will consist of two parts:

Part A: Verbal skills, Logical skills, visual skills, and basic mathematical and statistical skills.
Time: 1 hour.
Marks: 50 marks.
Calculator’s not allowed.

Part B: Visualization aptitude, Analytical skills, and visual communication skills.
Time: 2 hours
Marks: 150 Marks.
Calculators Allowed for Part B.

*Applicants need to bring their own pencils, pens, erasers etc. Paper will be provided at the center.

Sample Questions:

Questions in Part A will include fill in the blank type, as well as Multiple Choice questions.

Questions in Part B will include Drawing exercises, Analytical questions, and concept sketches.

Example 3:  Identify the next number in the sequence. Explain why?

Example 4: Given a jar of 8 liters full of water, show how you can divide the quantity of water into two halves using only 5 liters and 3 liters jars.

Example 6:Choose all conclusions that validly follow from the argument below. Also explain why?

All kittens are playful, some pets are kittens therefore

  • Some pets are playful
  • All kittens are not pets
  • All playful animals are not pets.

Example 7: When the shape on the left is folded at the dotted line which shape does it produce?

Example 8: PigeonsBeGone is a company specializing in products that stop pigeons from entering balconies, thereby helping keep balconies clean. You have been asked to create a logo for the company. Please sketch out logos for the company, and explain your thought process.

 

Example 9: Shown below is the state wise data for Aadhar card enrollments. Evaluate the data below and answer the following questions: (Calculators allowed)

  • Which state had the best enrollment process, why?
  • Which state had the worst enrollment record, why?
  • If you were responsible for improving the Aadhar process, and were given the above data, what decisions would you make? Why?

Example 10: How will you graphically communicate the saying “All that glitters is not gold”. Explain your thought process.
